# Traffic allowance and overages

Summary: Every VPSDime plan includes a metered monthly traffic allowance. Warning emails go out at 75% and 100% of usage; after hitting 100% you have 24 hours to add traffic or upgrade before the VPS is suspended, and the allowance resets on the 1st of each month.

## What this is

Each plan includes a **monthly traffic allowance** (it's metered, not unmetered), delivered over a fast 10 Gbps uplink. This explains what happens as you approach and pass that allowance.

## How the allowance works

- Your allowance **resets on the 1st of each month**. Unused traffic doesn't roll over.
- You can watch usage any time on your VPS's [Graphs](https://vpsdime.com/knowledgebase/client-area/services/graphs) tab.

## What happens when you run low

1. **At 75% used**, we email you a heads-up.
2. **At 100% used**, we email you again, and you have **24 hours** to either [add traffic](https://vpsdime.com/knowledgebase/client-area/services/extra-features) or [upgrade the plan](https://vpsdime.com/knowledgebase/client-area/services/upgrade-downgrade).
3. **If you do neither within 24 hours**, the VPS is **suspended**. It comes back when you add traffic or upgrade, or automatically when your allowance **resets on the 1st** of the next month.

## Things worth knowing

- **Suspension here is about traffic, not payment.** Your data is untouched, and the VPS returns as soon as more traffic is available (added, upgraded, or reset).
- **Add traffic ahead of time.** If your usage trends toward the cap mid-month, adding traffic from [Extra Features](https://vpsdime.com/knowledgebase/client-area/services/extra-features) is prorated and avoids the scramble. If you're over the cap most months, a bigger plan is usually the better deal.
- **Keep your account email reachable**, the 75% and 100% notices are your early warning.

## Troubleshooting

- **My VPS was suspended for traffic.** Add traffic or upgrade from your client area and it comes back; otherwise it returns on the 1st when the allowance resets.
- **The VPS came back, but my website or app didn't.** Services not set to start on boot stay down after any reactivation, see [the one-minute fix](https://vpsdime.com/knowledgebase/troubleshooting/services-not-starting-after-reboot).
- **My usage seems too high.** Check the [Graphs](https://vpsdime.com/knowledgebase/client-area/services/graphs) for what's consuming it. Unexpected traffic is often a compromised app, a misbehaving bot, or something being scraped, worth investigating rather than just topping up.

## Still need help?

You can [open a support ticket](https://vpsdime.com/open-ticket/). So we can help on the first reply, it's worth mentioning:

- the VPS hostname or IP,
- whether you want more traffic this month or a bigger plan going forward.
