Summary: VPSDime's refund policy, the 72-hour money-back guarantee on your first service, and why cancellations, downgrades, and account credit don't generate refunds.

## What this is

When you can and can't get money back at VPSDime.

## 72-hour money-back guarantee (first service)

Your **first** VPS comes with a **72-hour money-back guarantee**: if it isn't right for you, cancel within 72 hours of the service being delivered and, in good standing, we'll refund the full amount.

To get the refund, within the 72-hour window:

1. **Submit a cancellation request** for the service from your client area, and choose **Immediate** (not "end of billing period"), so the service is cancelled straight away. See [Cancelling a VPS](https://vpsdime.com/knowledgebase/client-area/services/cancellation).
2. **[Open a ticket](https://vpsdime.com/open-ticket/)** to request the refund. Refunds aren't automatic, you need to ask for it.

- It covers your **first service** with us. Additional services don't include the 72-hour guarantee.
- After the 72 hours, the service is non-refundable.

## Cancellations

If you cancel a service yourself, **no refund or credit** is issued for unused time, whether you cancel immediately or at the end of your billing period. The one exception is the 72-hour money-back guarantee above, on your first service.

## Downgrades

Downgrading a service to a smaller plan **does not** generate a refund or account credit for the difference.

## Account credit

Money you add as [account credit](https://vpsdime.com/knowledgebase/client-area/billing/add-funds) is **non-refundable**.

## If we end a service

If **we** end a service without cause, we'll refund the prorated amount of your remaining balance. Services ended for policy or payment violations are not refunded.

## How refunds are issued

Refunds go back to the **original payment method** you used.

The exception is methods that can't be reversed: if you paid with **crypto currency (Bitcoin or USDT), Alipay, DOKU, Boleto, or PIX**, any refund you're due (including the 72-hour money-back) is issued as **[account credit](https://vpsdime.com/knowledgebase/client-area/billing/add-funds)** instead. You can spend that credit on your services.

**How long a refund takes:** PayPal refunds usually appear within a few minutes. Card refunds typically take **4 to 6 days** to show on your statement, depending on your bank's own policy. Refunds issued as account credit are available right away.

### Refunds of pre-authorization holds

Card payments happen in two steps: the bank first places a **hold** on the amount (the pre-authorization), and the charge is **captured** afterwards. If your refund is processed while the payment is still in that pre-authorization state, the money was never actually collected, so there's nothing to "send back": the refund takes the form of a **cancelled hold**, which your bank releases on its own, typically within a few days.

What that means on your side:

- Your statement won't show a separate refund line, the pending charge simply **disappears** once the bank drops the hold. How fast depends entirely on your bank; a few days is normal.
- **No action is needed from you**, and there's nothing for us to re-run: a released hold is the complete, correct form of this refund, we can't re-process it as a different kind of transaction, because no money moved in the first place.
- If your bank flags an issue or the hold seems to linger, it still resolves **automatically through the card network**; holds expire on their own even in the worst case.

## Things worth knowing

- **Use the 72 hours to make sure the VPS suits you.** If it does, keep it; if not, cancel within the window for a full refund.

## Still need help?

You can [open a support ticket](https://vpsdime.com/open-ticket/). So we can help on the first reply, it's worth mentioning:

- whether you're within the 72-hour window,
- the service and invoice involved,
- what you'd like us to do.
