## What this is

You can transfer a VPS to another person's VPSDime account. It's a deliberate, two-sided process, so a service only moves when both people confirm it.

## Before you start

- **Pay any open invoices** on the service first. A service with outstanding invoices can't be transferred until they're settled.
- **The new owner needs an account.** If they don't already have one, they can create one at the [sign-up page](https://vpsdime.com/register). See [Creating an account](https://vpsdime.com/knowledgebase/client-area/account/creating-an-account).

## How to transfer

Both people open a support ticket so we can confirm the move from each side:

1. **You (current owner):** [open a ticket](https://vpsdime.com/open-ticket/) naming the service and the **email address of the account it should move to**.
2. **The new owner:** opens a ticket from their account naming the same service and **your account's email address**.

Once both tickets line up, we'll move the service to the new account.

## Things worth knowing

- **Transfers are free.** There's no fee for moving a service between accounts.
- **Nothing happens to the VPS itself.** A transfer is an ownership change in our billing system, not a technical operation: the server keeps running throughout, with **no downtime, no reboot**, and the same IP, data, and configuration. Whatever it's hosting won't notice the handover.
- We need confirmation from **both** parties before moving a service.
- After the transfer, billing and management of the service move to the new owner's account. If the old passwords weren't handed over, the new owner can set fresh ones from the [manage page](https://vpsdime.com/knowledgebase/client-area/services/managing-your-vps) (root password on Linux, Admin password on Windows).
