My invoice shows Pending or Security Review after I paid
What this is
You paid a VPSDime invoice by card and it isn't marked Paid yet. It's showing either Pending or Security Review. Both mean your payment is being processed and the invoice will flip to Paid on its own, so there's nothing more to pay.
The two in-progress statuses
- Pending: your payment is processing. This is quick and usually clears to Paid within a few minutes.
- Security Review: your card payment went through, and the card processor is running its anti-fraud check. The invoice sits in Security Review while that happens, which can take several hours (often around 6 to 8). Once the processor approves it, the invoice is marked Paid automatically.
Neither status needs anything from you, and in both cases you should not pay again. The invoice is held in these states partly so you don't accidentally pay twice while a payment is in flight. And if a duplicate payment does slip through, it isn't lost: our system automatically adds the extra payment to your account as credit.
If a security review isn't approved
If the processor's review doesn't approve the payment, we'll email you to let you know it was declined and ask you to pay with a different method. The PayPal / Card option is a good next choice, since it runs through a different provider. See payment methods and why a card payment fails.
Paid with PayPal? eChecks take a few days
If you paid through one of the PayPal options and PayPal funded it as an eCheck (a payment drawn from your bank account rather than a PayPal balance or card), PayPal can take around 3 to 5 business days to clear it. The invoice is marked Paid automatically once the eCheck clears, so you don't need to do anything more, but if you're in a hurry, it's safe to pay the invoice again with an instant method (a card, or PayPal from balance): should the eCheck clear too, the extra payment becomes account credit automatically and pays a future invoice. If you're not sure whether the payment went through, check the transaction in your PayPal activity, or contact us with the invoice number.
Not every method is instant
How long "paid" takes to show as Paid depends on the method, and none of the slow ones are a fault, they're just how those rails work:
- Card: normally instant; a payment picked for Security Review can take several hours (above).
- PayPal: instant from a balance or card; an eCheck takes 3 to 5 business days (above).
- Cryptocurrency: marked Paid after network confirmations, usually minutes, but a low-fee Bitcoin transaction can take hours. See paying with crypto.
- Boleto (Brazil): clears through the banking system, up to 48 hours, sometimes longer over weekends. PIX is the instant alternative. See payment methods.
- DOKU (Indonesia): also not instant, the invoice is marked Paid once the bank transfer or over-the-counter payment clears on DOKU's side, so plan for hours rather than seconds.
In a rush? If a suspension is looming or you want a new order provisioned now, pick a method that confirms immediately, a card, PayPal from balance or card, or PIX in Brazil, rather than waiting on a slow rail. This is safe even if a slow payment is already in flight: pay with the faster method now, and if the slow one lands too, the extra payment is added to your account as credit automatically, so nothing is lost, it simply pays a future invoice, and your service is live now instead of whenever the slow rail clears.
- Pending or Security Review: a payment is in progress or being reviewed. Wait for it, and don't pay again.
- Unpaid: no payment is in progress. If your invoice is still Unpaid after a card attempt, the payment didn't go through, so try again or use another option. See why a card payment fails.
Not the same as an order review
Security Review here is the card processor checking your payment. It's separate from the two checks an order goes through: the automated fraud screening at checkout, and the quick human review of every paid order before activation. An invoice can be fully Paid while the order itself is still in review, and the client area notices for orders are explained on those pages.
Will my VPS be affected?
An existing service keeps running while a payment clears. A new order provisions once the payment is confirmed, so a payment held in a Security Review can delay first setup by a few hours. See when invoices are due.
Still need help?
You can open a support ticket. So we can help on the first reply, it's worth mentioning:
