What is my Administrator password?
What this is
Your Windows VPS login is the built-in Administrator account, and its password is generated when your VPS is provisioned. It's sent to you in the provisioning email, subject: "New Windows VPS - Provisioning Started", along with your VPS IP.
Using it
- The username is always
Administrator. - Copy and paste the password, and make sure you're not picking up whitespace before or after it, a trailing space from the email is the most common "wrong password" cause.
- Once you're in, you can change it inside Windows (Ctrl+Alt+End in an RDP session opens the security screen with the change-password option).
Lost it, or it doesn't work?
The Windows Troubleshooter checks whether the password on file actually works against your VPS and offers a reset right on the page, no ticket needed. If the password is rejected when you try to log in, see My Administrator password doesn't work.
Still need help?
You can open a support ticket. So we can help on the first reply, it's worth mentioning:
- the VPS hostname or IP,
- whether the Windows Troubleshooter's password check passes or fails,
- the exact message your RDP client shows.
