The Tasks log

What this is for

The Tasks tab (in Manage VPS, https://vpsdime.com/myservices) is the history of actions taken on your VPS. Whenever something is done through the panel, a reboot, a password reset, a reinstall, a firewall change, it's recorded here with when it ran, whether it worked, and who started it. It's the place to answer two questions well: what happened to my VPS, and when? and did a change cause this problem?

What's in it

The Tasks tab: a table of actions with start and end times, a success or error status, and who initiated each (client IP or staff)

Each entry shows:

  • Action, what was done (for example Restart, Shutdown, Change Pass, Unlock SSH, Reinstall, Fix Network, Flush Firewall).
  • Start and End, when it ran.
  • Status, whether it finished or failed. A failed action is worth noticing, it can explain why something you tried didn't take effect.
  • Initiated By, either you (shown with the IP address you acted from) or our Staff.

The newest actions are at the top, with older ones on the following pages.

How to use it

  • Troubleshooting. If the VPS started misbehaving, check whether an action ran just before it: a reinstall, a network fix, a firewall change. Lining up the timestamps often points straight at the cause.
  • Confirming a support action. If you asked us to do something, or we did it proactively, it shows here marked Staff, with the time, so you can confirm it happened.
  • A quick security check. Since your own actions are logged with the IP you ran them from, an action from an IP you don't recognize is a red flag. If you see one, secure your account, see Keeping your account secure.

Good to know

  • Only actions relevant to you appear here. Routine internal operations we run across the fleet aren't listed.
  • An action that isn't marked finished is usually still running, give it a moment and refresh. If one stays failed, retry it, and if it keeps failing, open a ticket with the action name and time.
