Guides and answers for your VPS, the client area, and billing

Pre-sales FAQ

The questions people ask before ordering, answered. Still have a question? Open a ticket and we typically reply within minutes.

Price and value

How much does it cost? What's the cheapest plan?

Our entry plan is the 4 GB Linux VPS at $5/month. See the full range on the plans pages.

Why are you so cheap? Is it too good to be true?

There's no catch. We own our hardware, compute nodes, IP space, network, and virtualization software, so we don't pay anyone else's margin and we run our nodes efficiently. Owning the whole stack keeps our costs low, and that's reflected in the price.

Are there hidden fees or a setup fee?

None. No setup fee, no hidden charges. The price you see is the price you pay.

What's included in the price, and what's an add-on?

Every plan includes a full VPS: root access, the OS, NVMe storage, a dedicated IP, and a monthly traffic allowance. Premium VPS also includes free Nightly Backups. On Linux and Windows VPS, backups are an optional add-on. Extra vCPU, storage, bandwidth, and IPs can be added any time if you need them.

Do prices renew at the same rate, or is it a promo that jumps later?

The same rate, always. There's no teaser price that jumps at renewal. In fact, we've never raised our prices since we started in 2013.

Do you offer discounts, coupons, or Black Friday deals?

We don't run promos. Rather than inflating prices and then "discounting" them, we keep them at the same low rate all year round, so the price you see is the best we offer whenever you order.

Do you offer volume or bulk discounts?

Our prices are already set as low as we can make them, so there isn't a separate bulk rate to negotiate. You can order as many servers as you need from one account, and for a large or unusual deployment, contact us so we can make sure it goes smoothly.

Do you offer student, nonprofit, or open-source discounts?

We don't discount, but we do sponsor nonprofits and open-source projects with free service. See our Free VPS page to apply.

What currency are prices in? Can I pay in EUR/GBP?

Prices are in US dollars (USD). If your card or account is in another currency, your provider converts it automatically at checkout.

Billing and payments

What payment methods do you accept?

Major credit and debit cards, PayPal, Google Pay, Bitcoin, USDT, and Alipay, including prepaid and virtual cards. Full details in payment methods.

Do you accept Bitcoin or crypto?

Yes, both Bitcoin and USDT, alongside prepaid and virtual cards if you'd rather keep your payment private.

Can I pay monthly, quarterly, or annually?

Choose monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually. Longer cycles are priced proportionally. There's no annual "discount" because we don't inflate the monthly price to begin with. You can change your cycle any time.

Can I set up auto-pay, or cancel auto-renew?

Yes. Save a card or set up a PayPal billing agreement to renew automatically, and switch it off whenever you like.

Do you charge VAT / GST / sales tax? Can I add my VAT number?

We add VAT and other sales taxes only where they apply, calculated automatically at the payment page. Add your VAT or GST number on Account Details and it appears on your invoices. See taxes.

Can I add account credit / pay in advance?

Yes. Top up a credit balance from the Add Funds page and let invoices draw from it automatically.

Can I get a proper invoice or receipt for accounting?

Yes. Download PDF invoices from your client area any time, with your VAT/GST number on them if you've added one. See invoices.

What happens if I pay late? Is there a grace period?

Yes, there's a grace window. We send reminders around the due date, and a renewal that goes unpaid is first suspended (your data is kept), then terminated (data deleted) only after further notice. The exact days are in when invoices are due.

Am I locked into a contract?

No. There's no contract and no minimum term. Cancel whenever you want.

Trials, guarantee, and refunds

Is there a free trial or a free tier?

We don't run a free trial, but your first order is backed by our 72-hour money-back guarantee. You can also check latency and download speed from your location beforehand with our Looking Glass.

Do you offer a money-back guarantee?

Yes. Your first order is covered by a 72-hour money-back guarantee (it applies to your first service with us, not to every order). See Refunds and money-back guarantee.

Can I get a prorated refund if I cancel mid-cycle?

No. Time you've already paid for on a term isn't refunded, so cancel at the end of your cycle if you want the full period.

Plans, resources, and specs

How much RAM, CPU, disk, and bandwidth do I get?

It depends on the plan. Our entry Linux VPS starts at 4 GB RAM for $5/month, and plans scale up from there in RAM, vCPU, NVMe storage, and monthly traffic. Each plan lists its exact resources on the plans pages, and you can top up vCPU, storage, bandwidth, or IPs individually later.

What's the difference between your product lines?

In short: Linux VPS for the best value, Premium VPS for fully dedicated resources, and Windows VPS for Windows. See Linux VPS vs Premium VPS, Windows VPS, and Choosing the right VPS.

What is a Storage VPS?

A Storage VPS trades speed for capacity: it uses large HDDs in RAID10 instead of NVMe, so you get a lot of affordable space. It suits backups, archives, and media libraries where roominess matters more than raw performance.

Is the CPU dedicated or shared? What CPU do you use?

It depends on the product. Premium VPS gives you fully dedicated CPU, while Linux and Windows VPS share the node's CPU efficiently, with monitoring that keeps headroom free. Each plan lists its allocation. Under the hood we run Intel Xeon Gold and Platinum CPUs on enterprise hardware.

Can I actually use 100% of my RAM 24/7?

Of course, it's fully dedicated to you.

Is storage SSD or NVMe? RAID?

Every plan runs on write-intensive, high-DWPD NVMe SSDs in RAID10 (a Storage VPS uses HDDs in RAID10 for capacity instead). RAID10 means your data is mirrored, so a single drive failure doesn't take you down.

Do you oversell / overcommit? Will noisy neighbours slow me down?

No, we don't oversell. We keep headroom on every node for bursts and monitor our infrastructure closely, so another customer's VPS won't slow yours down. If you want a guarantee in writing, Premium VPS dedicates the resources to you alone.

Can I upgrade or downgrade later, and is there downtime?

Yes, from your client area. On Linux VPS it's live and instant with no downtime and the same IP, up or down. On Premium and Windows an upgrade applies with a quick reboot. Note that Premium VPS is upgrade-only: it can't be moved to a smaller plan later, so start with the size you need and grow from there. See Upgrading or downgrading.

Can I add just RAM, disk, or IPs?

You can add vCPU, storage, and IP addresses individually from the Extra Features tab. RAM is tied to the plan, so for more of it you move up a plan (live and instant on Linux VPS).

Can I switch product lines (for example Linux to Premium)?

There's no automatic switch between product lines. You'd order the new VPS and move your data across yourself, the same as any migration.

Virtualization and operating systems

What virtualization do you use?

Premium VPS runs on KVM and Windows VPS on Hyper-V, both full hardware virtualization. Linux VPS runs on our own optimized virtualization platform.

Do you offer GPU servers or nested virtualization?

No. We don't offer GPU VPS, and nested virtualization (running a hypervisor inside your VPS) isn't supported.

Can I run Docker?

Yes. You get a clean OS with full root, so Docker (and Podman, Kubernetes, and the like) runs fine on every product line. Install it yourself in seconds.

Which operating systems can I choose?

On Linux VPS, a wide range of distributions, Ubuntu, Debian, AlmaLinux, Rocky, Arch, and more, plus one-click Applications. On Premium VPS, the same distributions or virtually any non-Windows OS you like, including BSD or a custom image via ISO. On Windows VPS, Windows Server 2025, 2022, or 2019.

Can I install my own custom ISO / any OS?

Yes, on Premium VPS, for any non-Windows OS. Send us the ISO in a ticket and we'll attach it, then you install it from the console. If it's Windows you're after, that's its own product with the license included, see Windows VPS. (Linux and Windows VPS use our ready-made images rather than custom ISOs.)

Do you offer one-click apps?

Yes, including Coolify, Traccar, Immich, and Code Server, with more added over time. Running an open-source project you'd like on the list? Ask us and we'll consider adding it.

Can I reinstall the OS myself, any time?

Yes. Reinstall to a fresh OS or one-click app whenever you want, right from the panel. It wipes the VPS, so back up anything you need first.

Do you offer Windows? Which editions, and is the license included?

Yes, on Windows VPS: Windows Server 2025, 2022, or 2019 (Datacenter edition), with the license included in the plan price. You connect over RDP. See Windows VPS.

Control panel and management

Do you provide a control panel?

Yes, a bespoke control panel built into your client area. Power on and off, reinstall, resize, open a console, reset your password, and watch resource graphs, all from one place. See Managing your VPS.

Is there out-of-band / console access if I lock myself out?

Yes. A browser-based console connects straight to your VPS's screen, no SSH or RDP needed, so you can always get back in, even if networking or the firewall is misconfigured.

Does it include a web hosting panel (cPanel/Plesk)? Is a license included?

No. You get a clean OS and full freedom to install any panel you like. We don't bundle a cPanel or Plesk license, so you'd supply your own if you want one.

Is there an API or Terraform provider?

Yes, we have an API for automating your services (deploy, power, resize, and so on). Contact us to request access. We don't currently publish a dedicated Terraform provider.

Location and network

Where are your datacenters, and can I choose?

Yes, you pick your location when you order. We're in the US (Dallas, Seattle, Los Angeles, New Jersey) and Europe (London, Amsterdam). The order form shows the locations currently in stock; an out-of-stock location returns as soon as we add capacity.

Which location is best for me?

The one closest to your users gives the lowest latency. Use our Looking Glass to compare ping and download speed from each location before you order.

Can I move my VPS to another location later?

Yes. We offer an automated migration for a $4 fee, which you order from your client area. Your IP changes with the location, so plan to update your DNS afterward.

Is bandwidth metered or unmetered? What's the port speed?

Each plan includes a generous monthly traffic allowance (metered), delivered over a fast 10 Gbps uplink. Unused traffic doesn't roll over.

What happens if I exceed my bandwidth?

We email you at 75% and 100% of your allowance. If you don't add traffic or upgrade within 24 hours of hitting 100%, the VPS is suspended until you do, or until your allowance resets on the 1st of the next month.

How many IPv4 addresses do I get, and can I buy more?

One dedicated IPv4 is included. Extra IPv4s are $2/month each (with justification), added from Extra Features.

Do you offer IPv6?

Yes, IPv6 is available on our network. You can request IPv6 addresses by opening a ticket.

Can I set reverse DNS (rDNS/PTR)?

Yes. Edit reverse DNS for your IPs yourself from the Network tab, which is handy for mail deliverability.

Do you offer private networking or VLANs between my VPSes?

We don't provide a built-in private VLAN. Instead we recommend running your own encrypted overlay network (Tailscale, or self-hosted Headscale, work well) between your servers. It's more flexible, more secure, and works across our different locations too.

How good is your network?

It's built for low latency and reliability. We run on Tier 1 transit providers and peer directly with major networks, so traffic takes short, well-routed paths. See it for yourself with our Looking Glass.

Email

Can I run a mail server or send email from my VPS?

Yes. Outbound port 25 is open, so you can run a mail server and send low-volume transactional and monitoring email. Mass mailing, marketing, and newsletters are not allowed, so for any real sending volume use a dedicated service such as Amazon SES or Mailgun.

Is your IP space clean / not on blocklists?

Yes. We work hard to keep our network and IP ranges off blocklists by holding customers to high standards, which is exactly why bulk sending isn't permitted. You can also set reverse DNS on your IPs to help deliverability.

Performance and reliability

What performance can I expect?

Strong across the board. Linux VPS runs on NVMe storage and our optimized platform for fast, responsive performance. Premium VPS goes further, with fully dedicated resources that hold performance steady even under sustained load.

What's your uptime SLA, and what if you miss it?

We back a 99.9% network uptime SLA and a 99.99% power uptime SLA. If we ever fall short, open a ticket and we'll apply the credit you're owed.

How redundant is your infrastructure?

Very. Dual power supplies on separate A and B feeds, dual NICs into dual switches, into dual edge routers, into dual fiber paths, plus RAID10 on every disk. The point is that no single component failing takes your VPS offline.

Have you had major outages?

We engineer against them: redundant power, network, and storage are built to ride out hardware failures without taking your VPS down. When maintenance is planned or an incident happens, we post it to our service status page, which you can check any time.

Provisioning and access

How fast is deployment?

Usually within minutes of payment. Because we manually verify every order to keep our network clean, a first order may take around 15 minutes before it provisions.

Do I get full root / Administrator access?

Yes, always. Root on Linux, Administrator on Windows. It's your server.

How do I connect?

Over SSH (Linux and Premium) or Remote Desktop (Windows), and there's always the browser console as a fallback if you're locked out.

Can I reboot, rebuild, or reinstall myself?

Yes, all self-service from the panel, any time.

Backups and data

Do you back up my VPS?

Premium VPS includes free Nightly Backups. On Linux and Windows VPS you can add Nightly Backups whenever you want. See Nightly Backups.

Can I take and restore backups myself?

Yes. Restore your whole VPS or just individual files yourself from the client area. Backups are kept for three days.

Are backups off-site? Can I download them?

Yes. Backups are stored off-site, away from your VPS's node, and you can download a full disk image to keep your own copy or move it elsewhere. See download a full disk image.

What happens to my data if I cancel or you terminate the service?

It's deleted once the service ends, so back up anything you want to keep first.

Is my data encrypted? Do you look at it?

You can encrypt your filesystem on Premium VPS, or use application-level encryption on Linux VPS. We do not look at your data in the normal course of business.

Security and DDoS

Do you provide DDoS protection?

Our network has some mitigation capacity built in, and during a large attack we null-route the target IP to protect everyone else on the node. If you expect to be a frequent target, we recommend a dedicated third-party mitigation service (Cloudflare works well for websites).

Do you provide a firewall?

Yes. Linux and Storage VPS include a managed, network-level firewall that blocks the most-attacked ports by default, and you're free to run your own firewall inside the VPS as well. See the VPS firewall.

Is my account protected with 2FA?

Yes, and not optionally: two-factor authentication is on for every account and can't be turned off, with email login codes by default and an authenticator-app upgrade if you prefer.

What happens if my VPS gets compromised?

If we spot a compromised VPS (attacking others, sending spam, and so on), we quarantine it to protect the network, then let you either clean it up or back up what you need and reinstall. Since the service is self-managed, the cleanup itself is yours to do, but we'll point you in the right direction.

Support

Is this managed or unmanaged?

Our service is self-managed: the server is yours to run, and we look after the platform underneath it (hardware, network, and virtualization).

What support is included?

A 24/7 staffed team that typically replies within minutes, holidays included. We prioritise anything affecting access to your VPS, and help with other requests on a best-effort basis.

What channels do you offer?

Support is by ticket, opened from your account (pre-sales questions can be asked without one). See Getting help.

Can you migrate my server, or install and manage software for me?

No, we don't offer full management or done-for-you migrations, since the service is self-managed. For hands-on work, hiring a freelance sysadmin is inexpensive and gets it done properly.

I'm not very technical, can I still use a VPS?

Yes. Modern Linux is well documented, our one-click apps handle much of the setup, and you can hire help for the technical parts if you prefer.

Migration, scaling, and upgrades

Can I migrate my current server to you?

Yes. You move your data and sites across yourself. We don't perform the migration for you, but it's a common task and a freelance sysadmin can handle it cheaply if you'd rather not.

Can I upgrade without reinstalling or losing data?

Yes. Upgrades keep your data intact, and on Linux VPS they're live with no downtime and the same IP.

Can I clone a server to spin up more identical ones?

Yes. The quickest way is to deploy a new VPS and copy your setup across. If you'd like to replicate an existing server as-is, contact us and we'll help.

Can I scale to many VPSes / a fleet?

Yes. Order as many as you need, all managed from one account.

Acceptable use

What can I run, and what isn't allowed?

We keep our network fast and our IP space clean for everyone, so a short list of high-abuse activities is off-limits. Nothing here is unusual for a low-cost VPS host.

Perfectly fine: websites and web apps, databases, dev and test environments, game servers, a personal VPN for your own use, Docker and self-hosted apps, and using every bit of the resources your plan includes.

Not allowed:

  • Torrents and P2P (clients, trackers, or seedboxes).
  • Tor relay, exit, entry, or bridge nodes.
  • Public VPN or proxy services run for other people (a private VPN just for yourself is fine).
  • Cryptocurrency mining.
  • Bulk or marketing email (see the Email section above).
  • Adult content.
  • Copyright infringement or any unlawful use.

The full policy is in our Acceptable Use Policy; you agree to it and our Terms of Service when you order.

Do you require ID / KYC / phone verification to sign up?

We don't require ID or KYC, though we do manually verify every order to keep the network clean.

Can I sign up anonymously, with minimal info, a VPN, or a masked email?

No. We need accurate contact and billing details, and orders placed to hide who you are will be declined.

What information do you collect and keep?

Your contact and billing details and the IP addresses you connect from, kept until you ask us to delete your account. See our privacy terms for specifics.

Where is the company based / what law applies?

We're based in the United Arab Emirates, so UAE law applies, along with the law of the country your VPS is located in.

Are you GDPR compliant? Can I have my data deleted?

Yes, we comply with GDPR and other data-protection laws. Just ask and we'll delete your information.

How is abuse handled?

Report it to abuse [@] nodisto.com, and our team acts on reports promptly.

Can I read your TOS, AUP, and SLA before ordering?

Yes. You agree to them when you order: Terms of Service and Acceptable Use Policy. Our uptime commitments are set out in those terms.

Ordering and cancellation

What information do you need to order?

Just your contact and billing details (name, email, and a billing address) plus a payment method. You can create your account during checkout, or sign in with Google or GitHub. See How to order a VPS.

Why was my order held for review, and how do I clear it?

New orders are screened for fraud, which occasionally holds a first order for a few minutes. Contact us and we'll clear a genuine order quickly. See My order is under review.

How do I cancel? Is it self-service?

Yes. Submit a cancellation request from your client area and choose Immediate or end of billing period. See Cancelling a VPS.

Will I be charged again after I cancel?

No. Once you submit a cancellation request, any open invoice for that service is cancelled and we won't charge you again, even if auto-renew was on.

Company and trust

How long have you been in business?

Since 2013, providing VPS hosting to individuals and businesses for over a decade.

Where can I read reviews?

How do you compare to the big cloud providers?

We give you the highest resources per dollar, and we're a leaner, independent company: self-funded, no investors, and we own our network, IP space, hardware, and software. We reply in minutes, we treat you as a person rather than a ticket number, and we've never raised our prices, while the big names have raised theirs more than once.

Are you a reseller, or do you own your hardware?

We own it all: our network, IP space, hardware, and software. Nothing here is rented from someone else and marked up.

Affiliate and reselling

Can I host my clients' projects on my VPS?

Yes, hosting your clients' websites and apps on your VPS is perfectly fine. If you'd like to earn by referring customers to us instead, see the affiliate program.

Do you have an affiliate program?

Yes. You earn a recurring 10% on customers you refer, for as long as they stay subscribed. See the affiliate program.

Do you offer white-label?

No, we don't offer white-label or unbranded reselling. If you'd like to earn from customers you send our way, use the affiliate program instead.
